Hello friends,

What a time it has been!

Since my midmonth newsletter, I’ve driven 2,400 kms! That’s mostly for work, but also for bookish things. (Well, work is also bookish, thank goodness!)

I drove to - Mornington & Croydon, Apollo Bay & Lorne, Wodonga, Clunes, Queenscliff & Torquay, Brighton, Bendigo & Ballarat… just to name a few. (If they have an ‘&’ it was same day return. Wodonga and Clunes were the only two with overnight stays.)

Wodonga was a day-long writing/workshop event for teens put on by the Public Library and Gallery. It was great fun to spend the day with 5 other writers and talk writing with high school students.

Clunes Booktown is also always a joy! I attended for both days for the first time and then was on the program being interviewed by two trans/non-binary teens about re-writing fairytales. I picked up some great second hand books, too. Highlights include: Hamlet by Nicki Greenberg (which I foolishly didn’t buy when it was in print) and another book which made me laugh and laugh and laugh. It was called ‘Scouts In Bondage: And other Curious Works from Bygone Times with Titles that Might Cause Vulgar Minds to Misapprehend their Content’.

This weekend just gone I was at Supanova here in Melbourne. Two days of talking to people, signing books, speaking on panels and checking out all the incredible cosplay.

Some of that is pretty typical of my job, and others I only do rarely/occasionally, but that they all fell within a 2 week period became *a lot*.

In that time I’ve also been dealing with big IT changes at work which weren’t the smoothest, as well as committee and board meetings for various organisations I’m a part of, and planning/programing a week-long queer writers festival happening in June. Not to mention a mental health crisis.

I’m a tired pal… I can tell you.

So I’m going to try and give you all the things that I usually offer each month (Book Recs, Writing samples, and a playlist), but please forgive me if they’re briefer than usual.
